Welcome to Butler-Tarkington

The neighborhood's name comes from Butler University and the famous writer Booth Tarkington. The University has its campus in the neighborhood at 46th St and Sunset Blvd, and Tarkington lived in the neighborhood for 23 years in his country estate until his death in 1946.

The neighborhood is known for its attractive residential architecture.  It’s also fun to walk Holcomb Gardens on a nice spring day along the Canal.

If you're a resident near the university you can also pop over for coffee, theatre, comedy, and music and enjoy the tailgating during football or take in a Hoosier favorite, a basketball game at the historic Hinkle Fieldhouse.
